The University of Hawaii football team placed two players on the All-Western Athletic Conference first team and six more Warriors were named to the second team today.

UH quarterback Bryant Moniz and linebacker Aaron Brown earned All-WAC first-team honors, as voted on by the conference's eight coaches.

Moniz, a second-team All-WAC pick last year, completed 62.5 percent of his passes with 22 touchdowns against five interceptions before suffering a season-ending leg injury against Nevada on Nov. 12. He ranked second in the WAC with 273.3 passing yards per game.

Brown posted 103 total tackles, including 13 for losses, in his senior year. His 8.6 tackles per game ranked seventh in the WAC.

Wide receiver Royce Pollard, offensive lineman Brett Leonard, defensive linemen Kaniela Tuipulotu and Vaughn Meatoga, linebacker Corey Paredes and safety Richard Torres made the second team.

Utah State running back Robert Turbin was named the WAC's Offensive Player of the Year with Louisiana Tech linebacker Adrien Cole winning the Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Nevada quarterback Cody Fajardo was named Freshman of the Year.

Louisiana Tech's Sonny Dykes was named Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to the conference title.

Hawaii ended the season at 6-7 overall and 3-4 in WAC play.

There is always hope for next year . Do not dwell on history. Give credit to all players and coach for giving their total efforts although it was not enough to be on the winning end that we all want. That is life .
