Pre-dawn fire destroys Kula home

Maui fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a Kula home this morning.

Firefighters received the alarm at 5:12 a.m. When they arrived at 41 Kamila Place, the wooden home was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control by 5:27 a.m. and extinguished at 12:33 p.m.

One person lived in the home. No one was injured.

Damage was estimated at $200,000 for the building and $30,000 for the contents, Maui County spokesman Lee Mainaga said.
