Residents from Honokai Hale to Makaha are being asked to continue to conserve water after Board of Water Supply crews repaired a leak in a 24-inch main that supplies 60 percent of the water to the Leeward coast, a board spokesman said.

The water system needs to recharge and fully recover, Board of Water Supply officials said. The pipe was on Farrington Highway near the Kahe Power Plan. The right, town-bound lane of the highway was closed as crews worked on the main.

Residents are asked to use water sparingly for cooking, drinking and personal hygiene only.

About 10 customers were without water during the repair and a water wagon is set up in the area.
