By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

Police briefly closed Kunia Road between Lyman Gate and Foote Gate Thursday night because of a standoff between military police and a man with a knife on Schofield Barracks.

Police said they closed the road after military police requested it about 9 p.m. According to police dispatch, military police reported they had a man with a knife at gunpoint and were requesting that the road be closed in case the man runs and they have to shoot.

The military police were asking an officer with a stun gun to assist them, the reports said.

The road was reopened about 9:30 p.m.
