No. 11 Hawaii opens with a sweep of UC San Diego

Freshman opposite Johann Timmer put down nine kills and freshman hitter JP Marks and senior hitter Steven Hunt both added eight to lead No. 11 Hawaii to a 25-16, 25-20, 25-20 sweep of unranked UC San Diego tonight in a men's volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Marks had all three of the Warriors' aces in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener for both teams. Hunt and senior middle Jarrod Lofy each finished with four blocks as UH won the block battle 11-5. 

The teams meet again Friday at 7 p.m.
