No tsunami from 6.6 quake in South Pacific

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake in the Santa Cruz Islands does not pose a tsunami threat for Hawaii, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The quake occurred at 5:07 p.m. Hawaii time Sunday  in an area of the Pacific roughly 220 miles east of Kira Kira in the Solomon Islands.

No major damage or injuries were reported.
