High surf advisory issued for today

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for all islands beginning 6 a.m. today until 6 a.m. Thursday.

Surf of 10 to 16 feet is expected along north- and west-facing shores of Kauai and Niihau, and north-facing shores of Oahu, Maui and Molokai.

West-facing shores of Oahu can expect waves of 8 to 12 feet.

The advisory is in effect for West Hawaii from 6 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Thursday. Western Hawaii island shores can expect surf of 6 to 10 feet, the weather service said.
