An alert woman and her grandson helped foil a burglary at their Diamond Head Circle home Thursday night.

Police said the woman heard noises coming from her third-floor master bedroom and notified her grandson, who also lives at the home.

When the occupants found two men in the bedroom, the suspects fled. The grandson chased down and detained one suspect, a 24-year-old Kapahulu man. He was being held pending a first-degree burglary charge.

The second suspect fled on foot and is still at large.

During the chase, one of the suspects dropped a pillow case containing jewelry.
