The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for north- and west-facing shores of Kauai and Niihau.
A northwest swell is expected to bring surf of 10 to 15 feet to Kauai and Niihau, the Weather Service said. The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
A high surf advisory means that waves will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rup currents and localized beach erosion, the Weather Service said.
