House Vice Speaker Manahan announces bid for City Council

State House Vice Speaker Joey Manahan said today that he will run for Honolulu City Council.
“I am committed to the race,” he said after an evening fundraiser at a Chinatown restaurant.
Manahan will run in Council District 7, which covers Kalihi, Salt Lake, Pearl Harbor and Foster Village.
Councilman Romy Cachola is prevented by term limits from seeking another term.
Manahan (D, Kalihi-Kapalama) was first elected to the House in 2006. He became vice speaker last year.
