A teenage boy and a woman sustained minor injuries after a car reversed into the Jamba Juice at Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center, police said.

The boy was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in good condition and the woman had minor cuts from shattered glass, but declined treatment.

Police said the crash happened about 1:45 p.m. Friday when a Kaneohe man in his 40s either accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake or thought he had taken the Mustang coupe out of reverse.

Four customers were inside the smoothie shop when the car crashed through the glass window and struck a boy, about 15 years old. The boy got back up, but had cuts from the shards of glass. The woman was knocked down by the car's bumper outside the store.

The man was alone in the car and not hurt, police said. His car sustained only minor damage.

Police said Jamba Juice reopened later in the day.

I noticed that there was a handicap placard in the car and am curious to know what the driver's handicap is?

They should make cars talk to let people know if they're in park, drive, or reverse. I always check to make sure what gear I'm in before I drive the car. Sounds ridiculous, but better than getting someone injured or damage to the vehicle.
