Vog is affecting some residents of the smaller Hawaiian islands, despite the presence of tradewinds, and more volcanic haze is expected this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Several people, who were not on Hawaii island, called the weather service to report voggy conditions Saturday, said forecaster Victor DeJesus.

He said  volcanic haze from Hawaii island may have been carried east and blown back in by the tradewinds. Tradewinds are supposed to last until Monday, but it wasn't clear how long the voggy conditions would stick around.

Meanwhile, vog is predicted for on Tuesday and Wednesday because of a cold front to the northeast that will bring Kona winds, the weather service said. Tradewinds should return Thursday.
