Man held after knockout punch in Waikiki

Police arrested a 24-year-old Ewa Beach man following a fight in Waikiki that left a man unconscious early Saturday morning.

Police said that a verbal exchange between the suspect and the victim, 21, escalated when the suspect punched the victim once in the face, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness near Seaside and Kuhio avenues about 1:45 a.m.

The victim was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. A police officer who witnessed the end of the exchange arrested the suspect. He is being held pending a charge of second-degree assault.
