Deputy U.S. marshals in New Mexico today arrested a fugitive from Maui wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Stanley James Pacheco Sr., 62, was found on an Indian reservation in Santa Clara, N.M., and arrested about 12:30 p.m. local time, the Marshals Service said.
He was being held on $500,000 bail until an extradition hearing, to be scheduled.
A grand jury in October charged Pacheco with three counts of first-degree sexual assault, six counts of third-degree sexual assault and two counts of first-degree attempted sexual assault.
Pacheco's son, Chad Kukona-Pacheco, has also been indicted in the case. A grand jury indicted him on six counts of first-degree sexual assault and five counts of third-degree sexual assault.
