Firefighters rescued a 19-year-old man after he fell about 40 feet from a waterfall while hiking with friends in the Twin Falls area on Maui, a Fire Department spokesman said.

The man sustained cuts to his head, back and legs, but the injuries were not life-threatening, said Maui Fire Department  spokesman Lee Mainaga.

Firefighters carried the man out of the stream area about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, and paramedics took him to the hospital.

Firefighters warned that streams in East Maui are very low this year, making jumping from the falls extremely hazardous.

...and this person is from where? Is this a PUBLIC access to these falls or was there trespassing involved?

Does it matter if he's from Hana or Waianae or just another dodo from California? Da State or land owner will be sued and more ugly signs will be posted all over the place.
