Police said a 23-year-old Kaneohe man apparently fled the scene after a man fell out of his 2006 Nissan Frontier pickup Sunday in Kahaluu.

The victim, a 21-year-old Kaneohe man, died of head injuries he sustained after falling out of a moving vehicle, the Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office said. His name has not yet been released.

Police said an anonymous caller reported a man laying on Kamehameha Highway near Wailehua Road about 8:15 p.m. Sunday. The man was taken in critical condition to the Queen's Medical Center where he died at 1:29 a.m. Monday. Police opened a failure to render aid case and have not made any arrests.

Police said the older man was driving a gray Nissan Frontier when the accident happened.
