Police arrested a 29-year-old woman who allegedly forged a check belonging to a woman whose house was burglarized several days before.

Police said the suspect entered a Makiki financial institution on Jan. 30 and tried to cash a check. But the woman fled on foot when the teller discovered that the check was stolen from the home of an 85-year-old woman three days earlier,

The East Honolulu Crime Reduction Unit located the woman on Rycroft Street about 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The woman, of no local address, is being held pending charges of second-degree forgery, second-degree identification theft, second-degree theft and attempting to forge a check.
