Man arrested in alleged drive-by shooting on H-1 freeway

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 09:56 a.m. HST, Feb 26, 2012

A 65-year-old Kakaako man was arrested after a drive-by shooting on H-1 freeway in Aiea Friday night, police said.

The shooting apparently followed what was described as "a traffic incident on the freeway." The 65-year-old motorist fired a gun at another moving vehicle driven by another man, 23, while in the eastbound lanes of H-1 while the victim was trying to exit at the Aiea cut-off about 9:30 p.m., police said.

Two bullets struck the victim's vehicle but the man himself was not injured.

The suspect, who was driving a blue Chevy Blazer, fled but was later positively identified and arrested at his Coral Street apartment about 11:35 p.m., police said. He was being held today at the police cell block pending a charge of second-degree attempted murder.

It is unclear what happened prior to the shooting, police said.

Wow, Road Rage at its Worst. Shouldn't that shooter/driver be retired and in bed, getting ready for golf the next day? Hawaii is quickly declining in the Quality of Life department. No more good times in Hawaii. Now we have to deal with all the crap that I read about in the SA. What a Shame.

10-20 years in jail is in order for this guy, makes to difference why he did it. We don't need people like him in Hawaii.

Wow, is this 65yr old reliving his 20 somethings? I am curious as to the charges that will be filed against him. Reckless driving Reckless discharge of a firearm Attempted Murder(if proven) To name a few. Maybe he needs a place to live/sleep and 3 meals.
