Police: Thieves arrested after returning to store to sell stolen jewelry

Hawaii County authorities charged a man and a woman with burglary and other offenses after they allegedly sold jewelry taken in a home break-in to a jewelry store in West Hawaii.

Douglas Louis, 31, of Captain Cook, was charged Thursday with promoting a dangerous drug, possessing drug paraphernalia, three counts of burglary and six counts of theft. His bail was set at $130,000.

Rashel Kahalioumi-Taketa, 34, of Holualoa was charged with promoting a dangerous drug, possessing drug paraphernalia, four counts of burglary, six counts of theft and two counts of forgery. Her bail was set at $30,500.

Police arrested them Thursday when they returned to a Kealakekua jewelry store to sell more items that were allegedly stolen from the home. The jewelry store owner and home owner had cooperated in the investigation.
