POSTED:

University of Hawaii pitcher Stephanie Ricketts struck out 11 and held Florida State to one hit in the Rainbow Wahine softball team's 1-0 win today in the championship game of the Bank of Hawaii Invitational.

With the win, the 22nd-ranked Wahine improved to 17-0 while No. 20 FSU fell to 17-3.

UH scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the second inning. Makani Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu doubled down the left-field line and Jazmine Zamora went in as a pinch runner. Dara Pagaduan then struck out swinging but went to first on a passed ball. The throw to first was errant and Zamora, who advanced to third on the passed ball, came around to score.

Florida State pitcher Monica Perry allowed just one more baserunner and finished with a career-high 13 strikeouts.

Ricketts (10-0) was equally dominant and posted her final three strikeouts of the night in the top of the seventh to close out the win.

Earlier in the day, Kaia Parnaby (7-0) struck out eight and freshman Leisha Liilii drove in three runs in a 5-1 win over Radford that moved UH into the tournament final.
