Severe weather closes more schools Tuesday

Flooding and heavy rains have closed five schools on Kauai for Tuesday, as well as Waiahole Elementary School on Oahu today.

The state Department of Education said road closures around Waiahole Elementary School prompted the closure of the Windward Oahu school.

On Kauai, Hanalei School, Kilauea Elementary, Kapaa High, Kapaa Middle, Kapaa Elementary and Island School will all be closed Tuesday due to the closure of the Hanalei Bridge and a section of Kuhio Highway. 

School bus transportation service from Wailua Bridge to Hanalei will not be provided and will not be operating for students residing in Wailua who attemd King Kaumuali'i Elementary School. 

All other public and charter schools are open.
