State senators are marking Education Week by inviting students to submit questions over email, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.
Education Week is an interactive celebration from March 12 to 16. It recognizes achievements and innovations by local schools, educators, students and programs across the state.
This year marks the introduction of the "Ask Your Senator" project, which will allow students to ask questions using social media tools.
Senate Education Chairwoman Jill Tokuda says the use of social media allows for the creation of a virtual civics classroom where lawmakers can work with students to make a difference.
Between March 5 and 13, students can email questions and videos to scomm(at)capitol.hawaii.gov, post them to Twitter with the hashtag (hash)HIAskYourSen or share them on the Hawaii Senate Majority or individual senator Facebook pages.
