Arson investigation initiated into portable toilet fire

Big Island police opened an arson investigation into a fire that destroyed portable toilets at a beach in Puna. 

Sometime between 1:15 a.m. and 1:27 a.m. today, suspects set fire to three portable toilets at Ahalanui Beach Park in Kapoho, police said. Firefighters responded and extinguished the flames. Damage is estimated at $3,100. 

Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call police at 935-3311 or CrimeStoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
