Authorities filed charges against two people involved in a car chase that began in Wahiawa Tuesday and ended in a search for suspects in Kunia. But charges were still pending for a 46-year-old Kaneohe man who was the main subject of the police pursuit.
Adlida Correia, 27, a Kaneohe resident, is charged with resisting an order to stop, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and driving without a license. Her bail was set at $7,000.
Also charged is Amber Kelekolio, 24, a passenger in the car. The Kakaako woman is charged with promoting a dangerous drug and was released pending further investigation.
Police were still holding, but as of Wednesday morning had not charged a 46-year-old Kaneohe man who was arrested for first-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police closed Kunia Road for more than an hour early Tuesday morning after five people fled from the car into a cane field when it ran out of gas near the Royal Kunia Golf Course at about 1 a.m.
Police arrested the three suspects and two other suspects remained at large.
Police said the Kaneohe man threatened another man with a handgun at about 11:30 p.m. Monday and then fled with the other suspects in a car driven by Correia.
Police spotted the car in Wahiawa and the suspects led police pursued them to Kunia, where their vehicle came to a stop about 2 miles north of Anonui Street. Police closed Kunia Road between Kupuna Loop and Kunia Camp as a precaution until about 2:19 a.m. while they searched for the suspects.
