The University of Hawaii softball team split a doubleheader at Nevada today, claiming the Western Athletic Conference series before having a five-game winning streak snapped.

The No. 14/18 Rainbow Wahine (37-5, 11-3 WAC) took a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning of the first game and pulled away when senior Alex Aguirre and freshman Leisha Li'ili'i hit back-to-back home runs to power UH to a 6-2 victory at Hixon Park in Reno. Nev.

UH junior Kaia Parnaby struck out nine and walked one while giving up seven hits and improved to 14-2.

Nevada pitcher Mallary Darby then tossed a six-hit shutout in the Wolf Pack's 4-0 win in the series finale. Darby struck out seven and walked none in a complete-game effort.

Rainbow Wahine senior Stephanie Ricketts (23-3) suffered her first loss of the WAC season as two UH errors contributed to Nevada's three-run fourth inning.

The Rainbow Wahine next face Fresno State in their final home series of the season starting Friday.
