Kauai firefighters rescue injured hiker on Hanakapiai Trail

Kauai firefighters rescued a hiker who broke his left ankle Thursday while hiking on the Hanakapiai Trail on Kauai.
About 6 p.m., the hiker, a visitor from Texas, injured his ankle after he fell. Fire rescue aboard the Air One helicopter located the man near Hanakapiai Falls and airlifted him to Princeville Airport. Paramedics then transported him to Wilcox Hospital for treatment.
