LAST UPDATED: 01:36 a.m. HST, Apr 30, 2012

Police arrested a 28-year-old Waianae man Saturday in connection with an incident over an unpaid debt that escalated into a baseball bat and handgun confrontation and robbery.

Police said the suspect demanded the money that a 56-year-old woman owed him about 10:15 a.m. April 12.

A 57-year-old man, an acquaintance of the woman, approached the suspect with a bat, but retreated after three men with the suspect came toward him and one of them showed him a handgun in his waistband, police said. All four men left with the 57-year-old man's property.

Police said the victim called police Thursday after seeing the 28-year-old man and officers arrested the 28-year-old man about 4:35 p.m. Saturday at Maili Beach Park.
