A state jury Friday found Tevita Aholelei guilty of manslaughter for causing the death of another man in an apparently unprovoked attack outside an Iwilei bar in December.
Aholelei, 21, of faces a maximum 20-year prison term when he is sentenced in July.
Witnesses said Aholelei sucker-punched 26-year-old Solomone Niusini outside Da Kine Sports Bar Dec. 18.
Niusini fell backward and hit his head on the ground. He was taken to the Queen's Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office said Niusini died from blunt head trauma.
While free on bail awaiting trial for Niusini's death, Aholelei was arrested for another apparently unprovoked assault outside a Waikiki bar.
Police said Aholelei and another man attacked two men in the parking lot outside Zanzabar Night Club on March 1.
Aholelei is awaiting trial for misdemeanor assault in that case.
