Police arrest 3 at familiar Hakimo Road cockfighting venue

Honolulu police arrested and cited three people during an apparent raid on a cockfighting operation Saturday morning on Hakimo Road in Nanakuli.

Police arrest records show that 41-year-old Alexander Augustin, of Maili, was released on $2,000 bail after being cited for cruelty to animals and possession of a gaff. Christopher Ibanez, 32, from Waianae, was also cited for cruelty to animals and possession of a gaff and released on $1,000 bail. Philip Nazareth Jr., 38, from Wahiawa, was cited and released on $1,000 bail for possession of a gaff. 

Police arrested all three at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 87-1029 Hakimo Road.

The site has been the scene of previous cockfight arrests dating back to at least 2009.
