Man hit with sign at Waikiki bar

A Honolulu man in his late 30's is being held on suspicion that he allegedly hit another man on the head with a frame of a sign in a Waikiki bar Monday night.

Police said the incident occurred just after 7 p,m, when the suspect was accused of trying to take something out a woman's purse. A 29-year-old man tried to stop the suspect and was hit on the head during an ensuing argument.

Officers arrested the suspect for investigation of second-degree assault and fourth-degree attempted theft. Police did not identify the bar where the incident took place.
