Traffic is being diverted around a water main break on Makakilo Drive at Aoloko Street, Honolulu police said.

The Board of Water Supply said an 8-inch main broke at 94-624 Makakilo Drive near Anipeahi Street.

About six homes and six businesses are without water and a water wagon is on scene. Water is also being provided at a fire hydrant at 92-646 Makakilo Drive.

Police reported the road closure at 4:46 a.m.

The right lane of Makakilo Drive in the area is closed while crews complete repairs, but the left lane is open, police said.

Motorists are urged to drive carefully in the area.

Repairs are expected to continue into the afternoon.
