Maui police sergeant arrested following sex-assault allegation

A Maui Police Department sergeant has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation of sexual assault allegations by a 15-year-old girl.

Paul Bailey, an 18-year veteran of MPD,  was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for investigation of third-degree sexual assault, police said. He was released pending the investigation.

Sad, another situation in which an individual entrusted with the authority to enforce the law violates this trust, thus giving the members of the law enforcement community a bad name. Guess in our population mix it is impossible to weed out sexual predators effectively. Could he have molested others during his 18 years tenure as a police officer? Questions could be answered if victims come forward, if this cop indeed is a sexual predator of long standing.
