POSTED:

Hawaii County police are asking for the public's help in finding a man wanted in connection with a stabbing at Laaloa Beach Park, also known as White Sands Beach, on Alii Drive in Kailua Kona Tuesday.

Police said an argument with another man led to the stabbing at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim, a 39-year-old Ocean View man, was at the park with family members when the argument broke out. The suspect stabbed the victim in the neck and fled in a white Jeep, police said.

The Ocean View man was treated for his injuries at the Kona Community Hospital and released.

The suspect is described as possibly in his mid-30s, with a slim build and short black hair. He was wearing sunglasses,  a black baseball cap with a marijuana leaf logo on the front, and no shirt. He had a tattoo of a chain of musical notes that ran from his left shoulder down along his left arm.

Police located a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, with the driver-side door painted gray, at an apartment complex on the mauka side of Alii Drive between Poinciana Drive and Lunapule Road and recovered it as evidence.

Police ask that anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or whereabouts call Detective Walter Ah Mow at 326-4646, Ext. 238 or the Police department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
