Man dies of apparent drowning on Lanai

A 45-year-old man died this afternoon after being pulled from waters fronting Hulopoe Beach on Lanai.
Bystanders retrieved the unresponsive victim from the ocean shortly after 4 p.m. and, with along with police on the scene, performed CPR on him until paramedics arrived.
The man was transported to Lanai General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
