Firefighters responded to a condominium fire in Waikiki around lunchtime Monday.
The fire occurred at 12:15 p.m. in an 18th floor unit of Liliuokalani Gardens' King Tower located at 300 Wai Nani Way, said Honolulu Fire Spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig. A sprinkler head confined the fire to one room. There was no significant damage.
Firefighters had the fire under control at 12:30 p.m. and extinguished nine minutes later. An individual who resides in the condominium was not home at the time.
Damage estimate and cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
During the fire, Honolulu police shut down Wai Nani Way as well as two left lanes of Ala Wai Boulevard. As of 2:15 p.m., one lane of Wai Nani remained closed.
