Two homeless men hurt in Pupukea fracas

Police opened separate assault cases after two homeless men reported being assaulted by the other in an an early morning incident Thursday in Pupukea.

Paramedics were called at 2:38 a.m. Thursday to a vacant lot on Pupukea Road in Haleiwa, where a 62-year-old man said he stabbed a 42-year-old man after he was attacked, police said.

The 42-year-old man was taken to a hospital in serious condition with stab wounds. The 62-year-old man said he had been hit on the head and was also taken to a hospital; the extent of his injuries was not reported.

Police had not made any arrests as of Friday.
