Power failure closes Hanauma Bay for the day

The city closed Hanauma Bay yesterday because of a power outage, spokesman Jim Fulton said.
He said the popular swimming and snorkeling spot will open at 6 a.m. tomorrow.
Hawaiian Electric Co. spokeswoman Barbara Heckathorn said the outage was due to a "cable problem" and that earlier reports of a transformer blowout were incorrect.
She said power was restored by 2:50 p.m.
