A 42-year-old man was seriously injured in an early morning crash Saturday that knocked out power to an estimated 150 Waimanalo residences.
According to police, the vehicle the man was operating crashed into a utility pole just after 3 a.m., downing the pole and causing a power outage that lasted until early afternoon.
A Hawaiian Electric Co. spokeswoman said HECO personnel were able to restore electricity more than half of the affected residences by 8 a.m.
The driver was transported by Emergency Medical Services personnel to an area hospital.
