Honolulu fire rescue personnel assisted two hikers who were injured in separate incidents at Maunawili Falls today.
Shortly after 11 a.m., HFD personnel airlifted a 25-year-old man from the popular hiking spot after he apparently injured his left.
According to HFD spokesman Capt. Carlton Yamada, the helicopter was sent to Makaha to assist personnel in fighting a 200-acre brush fire afterward, but was quickly recalled when a second rescue call came from Maunawili Falls.
This time, the crew was called on to airlift a woman in her 20s who injured her back while jumping into a pool below the falls.
Both hikers were transferred to Emergency Medical Services with non-life-threatening injuries.
