A motorcycle accident in Wahiawa left the driver in extremely critical condition today, while a second accident in Hawaii Kai injured a man and his female passenger.
Honolulu Police closed both directions of the Kamehameha Highway in Wahiawa this afternoon following an accident around 2:47 p.m. at the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and California Avenue.
A Fire Department spokesman said the crash involved a man in his 30s who sideswiped a van after witnesses saw him weaving in and out of traffic.
The driver was transferred to a local hospital in extremely critical condition, an Emergency Medical Services representative said. He was wearing a helmet.
Police closed the highway between California Avenue and Olive Avenue.
Another accident happened in Hawaii Kai at 2:42 p.m., when a motorcycle reportedly rear-ended a Kia Soul, the Fire Department said.
The driver was a man in his 30s, and his passenger was a female in her 20s, according to the department. The crash occurred in front of the Koko Marina Shopping Center on Kalanianaole Highway.
The Fire Department said the couple sustained heavy scrapes and the male driver appeared to have a broken leg. Both were wearing helmets.
Emergency Medical Services said the woman was in serious condition.
