The Makaha brush fire was deemed contained around noon yesterday, Honolulu Fire Department officials said.
The fire burned about 250 acres and did not threaten structures or require any evacuations, a department spokesman said today.
Water drops using the department’s helicopter will continue throughout the day, and the commander will determine at nightfall whether an overnight fire watch is necessary, the spokesman said.
The fire began Saturday afternoon.
