Farrington Highway lane reopens after crews repair water main

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

The right townbound lane of Farrington Highway has been reopened for traffic following the repair of a broken 16-inch water main near Waianae Intermediate School.

The break happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday, cutting water service to 400 area residents and forcing the closure of two townbound lanes.

The BWS was able to establish a bypass system that restored water to all but seven customers on Saturday.

Water service to the remaining customers, including the transitional shelter, an apartment complex, Waianae Fire Station and Waianae Intermediate School, was restored by this morning and the road was repaired by late afternoon.

The main was originally installed in 1962.
