LAS VEGAS >> Allegiant Air predicts its capacity will grow by double digits in the next two quarters, much of it thanks to new flights to Hawaii from several cities on the mainland.
Las Vegas-based Allegiant Travel Co. is projecting the airline will see 15 to 19 percent more scheduled seat miles in the third quarter and 22 to 26 percent growth in the fourth quarter.
The projections came in the June traffic report the airline released Monday. It shows Allegiant had more than 584,000 passengers that month, which is up 8.1 percent year-over-year.
The number of passengers in the second quarter jumped 16 percent compared with the same time last year.
The Las Vegas Sun reports the growth comes as Allegiants been able to add profitable routes and dump unprofitable ones.
