Island Princess Macadamia Nut Co. estimates it will offset 86 percent of electricity use by its Keaau processing facility via a Sunetric photovoltaic system it will install this summer.
The photovoltaic array will generate an estimated 14,730 kilowatt hours of energy each month, offsetting the facility's electricity use at a savings of nearly $62,000 a year; or a monthly savings of more than $5,100, according to a statement.
Construction is to be completed by August, and peak macadamia nut harvesting season extends from August through March.
