Yoga teacher fired for glaring at Facebook worker

By Associated Press

POSTED:

MENLO PARK, Calif. » A California yoga instructor has been fired for her disapproving stink-eye glare at a Facebook employee using a cellphone in class.

Alice Van Ness, who was hired to teach hour-long yoga sessions at Facebook's Menlo Park campus, says she tells students before class to turn off their cellphones.

But a female employee pulled out her cellphone in the middle of a Monday session and began texting.

The San Jose Mercury News says Van Ness didn't say anything, but she gave the student what she calls a look of disapproval.

The student later complained and Van Ness was fired by Plus One Health Management.

The termination letter says Van Ness "made a spectacle" of the student.

Why was this person in the Yoga class to begin with. Facebook needs to reevaluate who the problem is.

OOH, the infamous 'stink-eye'....lol. Actually, the student made a spectacle of herself and should have been removed from the class.

Typical Facebook action. The man who started it stole the idea from friends. All he had to do is pay them off in court and now it is all his. What a creep.

Sounds more like the student is at fault having been warned about cell phone use. Very disrespectful. I've heard cell phones going off in theaters even tho a warning is posted on the screen prior to the show.

This comes as no surprise. People are getting fired for being politically incorrect and speaking their minds. Whatever happened to Freedom of Speech? Now it comes to this, so the question is, what is next? We've already started down a very slippery slope.
