Premiere of season 3 of 'Hawaii Five-0' set for September

The cast and crew of “Hawaii Five-0” gathered for a blessing Monday at Manoa Valley District Park. Standing beneath umbrellas in the light rain were Michelle Borth (who plays Navy Lt. Cath­er­ine Rollins, Steve McGarrett’s love interest), left, executive producer Peter Lenkov, Christine Lahti (joining the cast as McGarrett’s mother), Alex O’Loughlin (McGarrett), Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly), Kahu Blaine Kama­lani Kia and an unidentified crew member.

“Hawaii Five-0” fans, set your DVRs for Sept. 24 because that’s when CBS will premiere its third season of the popular crime drama.

The series will air in its regular Monday time slot — 9 p.m. in Hawaii. 

Filming began Monday in Manoa with a traditional Hawaiian blessing, a new cast member — Christine Lahti as Doris McGarrett — and a smiling, healthy-looking Alex O’Loughlin. O’Loughlin took a short break near the end of season two to deal with a prescription pain medication problem but returned for the final two episodes. 

There is still no word yet on whether CBS will hold a Sunset on the Beach red carpet premiere for Hawaii fans. Both of the show’s previous network premieres were preceded by advance screenings on the beach at Waikiki. The events were attended by thousands of fans, including many who traveled from the mainland.
