Suspect taken to hospital, reportedly head-butts officer

By Star-Advertiser staff

An 18-year-old Honolulu man taken to the Queen’s Medical Center emergency room early this morning head-butt the arresting officer at the hospital, police said.

Police said the suspect was taken to Queen’s at 3:40 a.m. after being arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

At the emergency room, the man became combative and refused to obey the commands of officers, police said.

Hospital staff told the police officers to place the suspect in a room closest to the entrance of the emergency room.

Police said the suspect stood up from his wheelchair and head-butt an officer in the face. The suspect was subdued and arrested for an additional offense of assault on an officer. Police said the officer sustained substantial injury, but did not give details.
