Honolulu firefighters extinguished a roof fire on a new house Thursday in Kahala.
Firefighters were sent to the fire about 3:45 p.m. and found the fire on the roof was starting to burn into a room in the one-story house, said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
He said firefighters brought the fire under control within seven minutes of arriving, but stayed for another hour to monitor the house with a thermal imaging camera for any hidden smoldering spots in the roof.
Seelig said the house was under construction and no one was home at the time, but there are no signs of suspicious activity.
A fire investigator planned to return today to determine the fire’s cause and a damage estimate.
