Hawaiian Airlines began daily service today for its flights between Seoul and Honolulu.

The previously announced plan to increase the frequency of the route to daily from four days a week will add more than 40,000 air seats annually and provide more than 96,000 air seats in total over a full year.

Hawaiian began service to Seoul in January 2011.

During the first five months of this year, total air seats from all carriers on the Seoul-Honolulu route increased 33 percent to nearly 140,000 seats compared to the same period last year, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority.

“Demand for our Korea service grew steadily over its first year as we expected, and we couldn’t be more pleased about expanding to daily service and the increasing benefits this will bring to Hawaii’s visitor industry,” said Peter Ingram, executive vice president and chief commercial officer for Hawaiian.

Hawaiian’s flights depart Honolulu Airport daily at noon and arrive at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport at 4:35 p.m. the following day. The return flight departs Seoul daily at 10 p.m. and arrives in Honolulu at 12:05 p.m. the same day.

Hawaiian will continue to use a 264-set Boeing 767 on the route.
