Hilo man charged with burglarizing woman's home

Hawaii County police charged a 22-year-old Hilo man for allegedly breaking into the house of a 64-year-old Hilo woman, who found him inside when she arrived home.

Police charged Kawika Kaiulani Larinaga-Napihaa with one count of first-degree burglary and one count of second-degree theft Wednesday. His bail was set at $35,000

Police said the man fled the woman’s Kinoole Street house June 6 with more than $3,000 worth of property belonging to the victim.

Detectives are continuing to review and analyze recent burglaries in South Hilo and Puna for similarities.

The public is urged to report to police any suspicious activities, persons or vehicles by calling 935-3311.

Descriptions and numbers of suspects, including clothing, descriptions of vehicles, make, model, color, license plate and unusual characteristics and direction of travel is helpful, as well as address or location of activity.
